Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are not real stone, but look and feel as such. Plus they are not hard to find being that they are man-made. These vanity countertops are, for the most part, made up of about 90% to 95% pulverized quartz and about 5% to 10% of resins of polyester.

Quartz countertops are stain resistant, and don’t need to be sealed with silicone sealer as you would with marble countertops, granite countertops, limestone countertops, or other types of real rock countertops that are porous, and can take in stains shortly after they hit the counter surface.

As far as style goes, quartz countertops will give you the most options when it comes to colors and patterns, which means whatever bathroom color and design scheme you come up with there will always be a quartz countertop to coordinate with it well. The fact that these countertops resist stains means light maintenance, and if you have a bathroom that will have a lot of traffic then they’re the best thing to have, especially if you don’t want to keep up with the maintenance that a real rock countertop requires.

Granite Countertops

Granite countertops are made of natural stone. That means that the designs on them were created by nature, and could never be duplicated or recreated by man. This authenticity of the stone itself is what attracts many homeowners who are looking to have new bathroom countertops in Seattle, and our experienced bathroom remodeling contractors at Seattle Bathroom Remodel get asked all the time whether or not it’s better to have granite than, say, marble or quartz.

When compared to marble countertops, those made from granite actually don’t catch hard stains as easily as marble ones to do. Granite countertops would need to be sealed, and then periodically sealed again in order to make sure that the stone doesn’t catch stains. It’s recommended that you seal your granite bathroom countertops at least twice a year, and our experienced bathroom contractors will explain to you during your free estimate what’s the best sealer to buy.

Marble Countertops

Marble countertops will stain very easily if you don’t seal them, which our bathroom contractors will inform you about. Marble is an extremely porous stone, meaning that it has small entries or holes that air and liquids pass through. That being said, if you were to spill, say, a glass of wine on a marble countertop that’s not sealed, then that stain will set in and stay there. No matter how much you clean it, you’ll more than likely always see traces of where that wine was spilled, and probably under your breath curse the friend who did it!

This is why it’s absolutely mandatory to seal marble countertops, and have them resealed periodically, just as you would with granite ones. Is recommended that you seal your marble countertops four times a year in order to keep the stone from taking in liquids that cause permanent stains.

Solid Surface Countertops

Solid surface countertops are the other man-made kind and are often compared to quartz ones, being that both of them are not rocks at all. Solid surface tops are made of around 60% of various minerals and about 30% of confining resins, and come in dozens of different colors that will go great with your bathroom remodeling plans.
